As a freight broker agent, you manage incoming and outgoing shipping for shipping companies and transportation carriers.  Freight broker agents also determine shipping costs.

Job requirements

  • 1 year as an agent or 3 years of sales experience
  • A computer with high speed internet
  • A phone with unlimited incoming and outgoing long distance service
  • A printer/scanner/fax
  • Desire to start your own business
  • Discipline
  • Know how to determine and negotiate rates
  • Current book of business is a plus.
  • College grads preferred but not required

Agent/Logistics Consultants Responsibilities Included, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Act as a logistics specialist utilizing the most effective way of transporting goods for clients.
  • Identify, obtain, qualify, and develop relationships with clients.
  • Track all customers using a CRM system.
  • Learn how to use broker software to be efficient.
  • Collections as needed.
  • Managing credit limits of shipping companies.
  • Determine and negotiate shipping cost.
  • Track and monitor shipments.
  • Post available loads to load boards to find carriers.
